WhatsApp introduced a new channel feature, rolled out in 150 countries. It is a personal feed through which you receive information on topics that you follow. We welcome organizations, football teams, and artisans that users can follow without leaving the app. However, if you are new to WhatsApp channels, we aim to make the private broadcast service available. The channels are not part of chats; they are separate from them. We care about the privacy of both followers and admins. All the personal information of the followers and admins is fully protected. In addition, it will not be visible to the other people who you follow.

We value all the feedback we have received from our start in the ten countries. The following updates will be introduced when we expand the channels worldwide.

Enhanced Directory:

The channels will be filtered automatically according to the users' country, which they can explore to follow. Additionally, you can filter the channels according to their followers, such as new, popular, or most active.

Reactions:

You can use the emojis to react or give feedback. Further, you can also see a total reaction count. However, it will not show the others how you react.

Editing:

In the future, the admins can edit their updates for up to 30 days when we remove them from our servers automatically.

Forwarding:

When users forward an update to a group or in a conversation, it contains a link back to the channel. This helps others explore that channel more.

However, it is just a start. Based on users' feedback, we will keep adding more features to channels. Moreover, everyone can create a channel in the coming months.
